Was Tony subconsciously trying to get back at me for something when he bought miles this electrical, inflatable penguin one morning while I slept in???? Or, is he just a total sucker? Needless to say, after our photo op (which includes our neighbor), it was returned to Home Depot immediately.
I also took a lot of naps, read two books, had dinner and drinks with friends, and did all of my work with absolutely no pressure. Wow! Tony was in Ohio for business in Tipp City close to where his parents live in Troy. Having recently read Eat, Pray, Love, I am willing to believe that this time on my own was a gift from the universe.
Meanwhile... Miles was having a BLAST with his Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Timmy and doggie Denver, etc. etc.
For weeks our little guy was going to be a skeleton, then suddenly he switched to a puppy. This was a-okay with me as I'm not quite ready for him to explore his dark side yet! We went to a great Halloween party thrown by the parents of a child from Miles' school. On actual Halloween, we trick or treated in our neighborhood shopping district and Miles scored some major loot.
Oh Yes! And, we also had an adorable Halloween parade around the block at Miles' school (which is right behind our house). It ended outside the gate to our cohousing community.
Need I say more? We had a lot of fun this summer... Miles is tight with his special lady friends and he's man enough to wear pink (check out his shades). I like to bake now... and Miles being in school means 8 more hours - in addition to the time Mariana is here - of personal time for mommy... Yahoo! (p.s. Miles was a champ adapting to school and now he is a regular, regular there. He likes to play with dolls and he is getting into drumming, so my hard work of bringing up a super sensitive and yet very cool dude is paying off!)
The short version is: we had a great time at my parent's place in Colorado. My brother was with us for a few days, Tony's brother visited us for a day on his way to a wedding. Miles fished, hiked, threw rocks over cliffs and played in creeks... In the end, we all agreed... It really IS "a good life in the mountains!"
