Happy Birthday Miles!

The official b-day was July 4th. We had a small family celebration with Nana and Pepere that day. Miles woke up at 5:30 am and opened all of his gifts.

He immediately wanted to take his new bike for a ride.

We just spent the fourth hanging around the house. We made a cake, planted some new birthday flowers, and played with all of Miles' new toys - including gifts from Nana and Pepere and his Grandma and Grandpa. The day ended... of course... with FIRE WORKS!

We had a bigger party for all Miles' friends on the following Saturday. The party included an art exhibit of Miles' paintings. Miles also helped bake ANOTHER cake and then decorated it himself!

Thanks to all of our friends for helping us celebrate. It was such a great day and the gifts were all very thoughtful, useful things (I credit myself for surrounding our family with such great people ;)

Thanks again!

XOXO,
Suzie, Tony and Miles

Family Vay-K

We had a wonderful little trip earlier this week. Gotta love the Bay Area where we can do a little 3-day tour on one tank of gas and have a great time.

We started out by camping at Mount Diablo.

A ranger said that the views that day were some of the best he's seen in 6 months.

We then went to the Gilroy Gardens - a fabulous little amusement park for young kids. It's beautifully landscaped, very clean and small enough to feel managable. The rides are really gentle and sweet. Miles particularly loved the train and the cars, which the kids actually get to "drive."

Here's Miles riding the Fish Bowl. The soundtrack is classic.

Who's driving this thing?

After the Gilroy Gardens, we stayed in a hotel with a swimming pool and went swimming the next morning (Miles had tested out his new life vest in the bath tub before we left).

It can be difficult traveling with a toddler - no matter how wonderful he is - and sometimes the car travel was trying. So, it was nice that the driving time was always fairly short.

Skateboarding is NOT a crime

I am loving my Sunday mornings. Miles and Tony have a father and son routine... They hit the coffee shop and head for the skateboard park, while I sleep in and start my day peacefully. To top it all off, they come back with groceries!

Here's a video of Miles riding on Tony's lap as they sit on the skateboard.

The only thing I worry about... now Miles wants to do tricks on his bike and scooter. Here's our little X-gamer pulling a trick on his bike:
